Push it to ~700 and you could do all the forum favourites. 6800, those Shimano wheels Tester likes and some cheap but decent finishing bits.

go budget weight weenie
-
• #4
^ I like that. What do I need in terms of bits for it?
What wheels do Tester like then?
-
• #5
^possibly WH-R501

used 6700 FD; RD; Shifters and brakes (ebay/bikeradar forum) .. Used Rotor 3D (not plus) cranks as they take standard BB and have 24mm axle; similar bargain wheels as these: http://www.lfgss.com/thread128336.html OR just OTP shimano wheels OR Kinlin XR300 wheels for extra weight weenie-ism; kalloy stem; very much possible at £550 if you subtract the rotor cranks and just get 6700; if thats too much of effort what morgan said

I've got a set of Ksyrium Equipes that I could be persuaded to part with, 11 speed, tyres tubes and skewers and I'll keep the Sram 11-28 cassette on there for you...
If you want to get the Kalloy weightweenie stem and some Ti bolts, let me know. I want 2 and we could combine postage.

Pfft mine is at least as pretty as this...
-
• #11
As mentioned, 6800 and low profile wheels would look pretty good - a la Dammit's Serotta. (similar frame colour too)

126 or 130 spaced?

There's a 60cm CAAD6 Saeco BB30 on ebay at the mo. With the full crabon time fork. It's like the past...and the present, all in one. But with rad paint.

^ Looks a bit worse for wear though. As if some fool has actually been out riding it.

Shimano 5800?
-
• #16
Sweet. Sweet. Sweet. Went past one of these in yesterday, same blue as the C-Dale track.
6800 would look great. Compact Drops (Deda RMH02's are nice) and Ritchey finishing kit. Flite would look great too.
I'd go second hand open pro to Hope for wheels.
Are those 1inch forks? I've a threadless 1inch CK headset in black....

Thomson seatpost with stripped SLR Fibra and the 1" Kore threadless looks the part.
Thinking about going with the black 105 5700 groupo which Ribble now sell for £299.99, and then get the WH501 wheelset. I'm not after HHSRB, I just want a rideable bike.

Might even consider silver...
-
• #19
Silver would go well with the seatpost and stem IMHO

5800 looks/designed/perform (?) better and is just £35 more: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/shimano-105-5800-11-speed-groupset/rp-prod116477
According to scoble its going to be cheaper than 5700 if ultegra is anything to go by (6800 is cheaper than 6700)

got some 105 bits for sale if your interested..
-
• #22
If it's still there, this is a pretty good deal too:

Subscribed, cos I might have a similar project coming up...
-

if you can stretch your budget go for ultegra rather 105. bit more expensive but much better quality materials used and better fell when braking/shifing. i have just fitted 5700 to my caad5 and i am not impresed when comparing it with higher spec models. no black option though...

The 5800 105 has the ultegra feel or so it says on bikerader and like amey said, just 35 quid more, also got the black option which I quite like.
Won't be building on this too much until I've gotten a new job, hopefully that wont be too long
So Russ bought El Reys Rycht Max, which I had my eyes on which meant his Dale needed selling. Voilá!
Paint pops and drips like crazy in direct sunlight.
Ideas on how to build this up with a budget of about £550?
