Presumably similar to Rohloff, the odd 1-2% might be a problem in a XC race against clean new dérailleur chain, but at the end of a muddy 6 hour enduro the internal gearbox is probably ahead.

I thought it would be more than 2%

I guess that is why it is not really viable for road.
