So I just fitted my DMR qr mounted hanger, Sram X7 type 2 mech and my rear BB7 (The new all black version looks so nice!)
http://i61.tinypic.com/2qn603m.jpgNow trying to figure out the best way to attach a Velo Orange Randonneur rack!
(+another dog)
http://i61.tinypic.com/2s8ixqf.jpgAlso got emails today to say my AbsoluteBlack chainring is on its way to me and my BB86 GXP bottom bracket is finally back instock and has been dispatched!
I went for a Hope headset and Pro 2 rear hub which should be here on Tuesday
This is all getting very exciting for me, as my main ride for the last year has been my s/s 29'er after I fucked up my knee crashing on my last road bike.

What width I'd the frame at the rear end?
-
• #4
That was my first thought, but as it's disc and meant for Di2 Alfine it's 135mm

Just attached my handlebars and shifters to see what they look like.
http://i57.tinypic.com/2rrpk0j.jpgI went for Salsa Cowbell 2s the shape of them seems really nice and I feel like I would use the drops more than on a set of woodchippers
As you can just about see in the pic I gutted the left hand shifter. It felt so wrong opening brand new shifters and pulling them to pieces!

Looks ace.
Think if my Pompino had been 130 or 135mm it'd have made a conversion to gears so much more possible.

Thanks!
Yeah one of the first frames I looked at for this project was a Pompino V4, it's a shame as I really like On One but there isn't many options for 120.

So my plan for the rack is a Swift Industries Ozette bag in all black and green.
Is the shiny rack going to look out of place?
Should I get it painted/look into painting it myself? The only other shiny thing on it will be the chain and cassette everything else will be black.
Hmm... -

Awesome!

Thanks!
My bottom bracket arrived today.

My hope stuff arrived today! Headset and a pro 2 rear hub.
My rims that were on back order have also been dispatched, so fingers crossed I can build this up on Thursday/Friday! -

This is going to be great.

I always said they should have stuck with 130. Road hubs would fit (for SS with spacers on the freehub), track hubs would fit with 2 spacers and mtb hubs would be ok with some flexing.

I always liked surly's 132.5mm spacing, dont know why they got rid of that.

Just got a call from my boss, rims have arrived, gonna pop in and pick them up soon.
Then lace them tonight, should be able to build up the bike tomorrow! -
• #15
^yeah I've always thought 132.5 was such a good idea for steel frames!

According to their website they still do on cross checks, called it gnot right?

What rims did you go for Barbell?
-
• #18
Yeah I think they do, I guess it's getting to the point of 135 being standard now though!
I went for Archetypes, it's was a decision between them and Stans Iron Cross. But I love building with H plus Sons rims, they go together so nicely and look beautiful! -
• #19
new archetypes are just so pretty. dam brake surfaces.
-
• #20
Yeah I was so disappointed when I saw a pair I built for a customer come back in with shiny braking surfaces!!!

Built this up today! Just got in from a lovely little evening ride around Battersea and a bit of the Thames path.
Excuse the shitty picture, some better ones will follow...
Just a few creases to iron out; I think I'm going to get some Nokon housing for the compression-less goodness, I need to add an inline barrel adjuster on the gear cable, I will also add a top layer of Newbaum's cotton tape over my current Velox stuff, and finally need to decide on a new saddle either a Brooks C17 or C17 with cutout.
Right now to plan some rides...

this is dope.
good work
Hi,
This is my first thread so please be nice!
So I have been planning a 1x10 fast touring/light off-road touring bike for about 6 months now, slowly putting parts in a pile in the corner of my bedroom.
I had been planning to get a black Surly Straggler frame, but after being offered a stupidly good deal from Madison on this Genesis frame I decided to go down the route of adapting this for what I need!
I got the frame today and have started fitting parts!
Frame and Forks (+dog)
