+1 to that. I like it.

I've given up on saddle mounted cages.
Stupid idea for dumb triathletes who enjoy picking bottles up off the road.
Got a couple of these lying around if anyone wants one.
http://www.wiggle.co.uk/tacx-bottle-cage-saddle-mount/Saw a fabric bottle holder fitted to someones handlebars at the trackday.
It was called a little/lucky bastards or somthing.
Anyone know where I can get one? -

I've got one of those: attaching cages is fiddly and I couldn't get it to stay at one angle, kept slipping down.
With anything mounted at the back, it's the cages rather than the mount which is at fault, if you're losing bottles: Xlab Gorilla FTW.

forty quid for a bottle cage...probably worth more than my entire fuji track
Any other options?
anyone know what this little bastard bottle holder thing was? -

I've got the Minoura saddle mounted kit as mentioned above - does anyone have any recommendations for bottle cages that work with this - ie bottle doesn't fall out? Looking on a relative budget, ie not the £40 cages mentioned above.

Profile Design, cheap, kinda ugly but will grip like no other.

I have a couple of the cheaper ones.
Good for a single bottle, mounts on the seatpost but as good as in most cases. If you are using a metal cage I found that the bars on the cage would bend slightly and bottles come out so have been looking for a more firm cage.

Had this one arrive today but in red and I wanted black, screws could be a little longer.
Rather skinny, without the rubber it can clamp around 1 inch stuff. Was going to use it on seatpost but it was straight so couldn't get bottles in/out.

^seconded, I had a saddle mounted bottle cage on my Donohue for a while but find a bit of tape and some cable ties on the downtube much easier.

Agreed that looks good on a well used frame like that, however mine is relatively new and in good nick, it would just look like a bodge. To update, and for anyone looking to do so in the future -I've got the minoura bottle mount, which works very well on any saddle with standard rails - http://www.wiggle.co.uk/minoura-sbh-300-dual-bottle-cage-bracket/
The issue, however, was that my previous bottle cages didn't really work very well with this, and I'd lose bottles where the alloy bent under the weight of the water bottles and the stress of bumps/potholes.
Bought 2 of these to try, and they work well for 6 quid each - http://www.wiggle.co.uk/elite-custom-race-bottle-cage-2013-1/ I've used them on the commute fine, and did a 40 mile ride today. The bottles came out once, but that was over an enourmous speedbump that I took far too fast. I've also bought one of these for 7 quid - http://www.wiggle.co.uk/lezyne-flow-cage-bottle-cage/ which look and feel like they are more secure, however it is quite difficult to get the bottle out and in, which might limit how useful it actually is for holding a bottle you can drink from on the move.

Looking for something to stash water bottles on a Boris Bike for a London-Paris... any ideas?

Does anyone else find the bottles fall out when mounted behind the saddle? When theyre full and going over bumps i find they work themselves free and i have to check every 30 seconds. Any way to fix this? I use a minoura double cage holder

Try a different type of cage. I find most of the metal ones bend/flex a bit much for the back but are fine on tubes.
Another trick would be to bartape the bottle/mount with some "cork" style tape(whatever you have around, the little strips for covering hoods that are never really cut a useful size work well). Can give just enough padding/antislip to stop it sliding out of the cage BUT might make it more tricky to get into the cage if it was very snug as it was.

Although ugly, the Profile Design cages grip like no other.
Been searching on the net for some sort of saddle mountable bracket. There are bloody loads anyone have any advice on the best one. Some of there look really flimsy
