Read the Quiet American because I was in America. Classic Graham Greene - solid story, well told. Nothing mind-blowing, but it seemed nicely prescient of the Vietnam War and the whole American agent 'Third force' for democracy theme resonated nicely with the current Iraq clusterfuck.
