  • Canonised as patron saint for endurance rides = Hippy :)

  • Don't worry. After the amazing 24hr TT effort. I had hippy in his Assos skin suit, pole dancing with a python, done as a full chest tattoo.

When the big climb starts, I will unzip my jersey to cool myself, and offer great inspiration to all those around me.

    That isn't a python.

  • There will be plenty along the course, held up by adoring fans. I believe he's quite 'big' in Norway.

    He's quite 'big' anywhere.

  • We'll be heading out for a short spin to war cemetery again friday morning. Check bikes are okay. Make sure you do the same once arrived.. then its karaoke bars til 4 am sat ;)

Good luck to you all, have an amazing ride, and lots of snaps please.

  • Wanted to pop in and wish you guys luck as well.

We're starting in the 09:02 group but maybe I'll see some you around. (I'll look for multi-merino wool layered chaps carrying bottles of brandy in their jersey pockets)

Finally, and not to be a bringer of bad news, but there is a threat from the national train operator, NSB, to go on strike on Thursday. Oddly, the main area effected, is most of the starting locations for the race. I'm not a conspiracy theorist by nature, but this one seems way too well-timed to be coincidence.

Those of us here in Norway (especially if we're on a train on friday) will be tracking this. I'll post an update once something comes out.

BUT! The weather looks fantastic right now... 11C on Dovrefjell (mountain top) with maybe only a small light rain....

  • From the forcasts I've been reading, and I have been reading a lot of forecasts. It'll be mild, With some sun, and some drizzle. Which to me sounds perfect.

I dont use the Trains here much. But they appear to be unhelpful and expensive. Had to pay half an adult fare for each of our bikes lasttime. Despite them being chucked in the luggage cabin like any other baggage.

  • SF.. don't be distracted by the forecasts.. just plan for wet.. every hour of sunshine thereafter is a bonus.. ;)

    Al

  • Cheers Bernie, pics will be appropriately inappropriate.

I don't think the trains are an issue for us anyway, but thanks and good luck flyor64.

Wont make much difference. Ultimately I'll chuck my favourate bibs and jersey on and declare it shorts weather anyway.

  • Fat Pantani?

  • i recall a £100 taxi ride last year from the airport..

Get the bus - that's what I did (probably waiting for the flight when you get out).

The Aalesund airport buses (flybuss) do this. They are timed for the flights, so tend to wait if Things are delayed.

We only have a couple gates though.

  • Fat Pantani?

    Bandana and earrings or gtfo

  • Good luck to you all, have an amazing ride, and lots of schnapps please.
    thanks mister, will do..

I do have a nose piercing that never healed. A result of a drunken bet.

I of course threw my Diamond nose stud at the foot of the mountain.......

  • i'll be consuming a whole jar of heated nutella as my recovering drink in Oslo..

Well, you knew what would happen when you posted this, didn't you?

"Wie von meinem Held Jan Ullrich vorgeschrieben/empfohlen." :)

  • If anyone has the possibility to pick up a topeak valve extender for me I'd be grateful. Cant seem to find one around here, and I'm not 100% convinced I can remove, and reinstall a standard one by the side of the road.

    Evans have them I think.

  • Okay I'll look, you'll want two or one?

  • just the one.

  • And thanks loads for checking. I had a leaky tub for ages from installing a valve extender badly, and that was in my workroom. My lack of mechanical talent is legendary.

  • According to evans canary wharf have them in stock. Al if you cant get one txt me and I'll pick one up tomorrow.

  • Awesome.
    :)

  • topeak valve extender?
i got two, and in two lengths..
as i also have deep rims, not a euph
just hoping we don't get epic cross winds..
but i'm taking H+ SL42s with the really annoying
    freewheel hub clickity-click

plus 2x spare missing links for
    SRAM/Shimano 10 speed chains

  • My rims are 56mm deep. But the veloflex carbon I preglued last night, and folded into an unfesibly small roll this morning, already has a 42mm valve. So I'll be OK With either.

Packed my saddle bag this morning.

    1 x pre-glued tubular
1 x can of pressurized sealant
    1 x mini pump
    5 x spare Chain links
    1 x multi tool
    2 x quick links
    1 x mini Chain tool
    1 x tyre lever
    2 x clif bars
    2 x 2nd surge gels
    2 x gooch cream sachets
6 x zippy bags With maltodextrin and nuun
1 x merino buff (pink for dapper evening wear)
1 x pair of silk glove liners
