• Hi all, thought I would add to the conversation a little.

I have been riding a fuji Track 2.1 for about 8 months or so now.

Went with the alu as the smaller size I tried (steel) didn't feel right.

In terms of weight there was really not much in it, but the alu did feel a touch lighter, which considering it was the bigger frame surprised me.

Today I replaced the forks, after an accident (snapped handlebar! ouch!) left my alu ones a little bent. rideable, but I was concerned...

So I went to Brick lane bikes, a shop I have been wary of because of negative reviews, but they were great, very helpful if pricey.
They fitted a AF01 Carbon fork, which I chose as it was the closest rake to the stock fork they had, but also I hoped it would be a touch tighter. It's also ready drilled for a break, which whilst I don't use it that much I find reassuring to know it's there in London traffic.

A few things... the spacers... I deliberately didn't cut down the tube for now as I wanted to maintain the same height as previously (in loosing the mud guard clearance, the whole frame is about an inch lower at the front)

The handling of the new fork is infinitely better... just a touch sharper, but not at all skittish at speed. Couldn't be happier about it!
Ride quality feels about the same.
    front end is noticeably lighter.

all in, I'm happy with it, and even though it's not an integrated headset I think it looks ok!

    here's a dodgey camera pic...

next up, new wheels, hopefully V Sprint. then new crankset as funds allow... commuter chic!
