Some people on here must be interested in coming up to Nottingham for this????

    On the 21st of June.

Should be a really good day and we need more Racers!!!

    Take a look.

    Cheers Guys.

  • Sounds good. Hopefully see you there.

  • Sounds good. Hopefully see you there.

Nice one, get as many folks involved as you can. Should be a good. Need to get people in the know and interested ASAP so tell everyone!

  • Just entered, looking forward to trying something new.

  • Wheels no deeper than 30mm - is that normal for crits?

  • Wheels no deeper than 30mm - is that normal for crits?

40mm is fine ive asked as mine are.

  • I'm going - only to spectator. Don't think my bike is enter worthy though since it has bull horns etc. Should be pretty interesting nevertheless.

  • I'm racing later on, but will try to make it down for the fixed crit. Trying to work out which corner is most likely to claim a collarbone.

  • Awesome race! Nice to meet other fixed riders. Hopefully I'll be back next year!
Also props to Dimi for finishing second. Very strong rider.

  • Thanks Duke!

Don't think I will bother going up there again.

  • Don't think I will bother going up there again.

    That's a shame man.

  • What happened, dimi3?

  • The fixed gear crit seemed to me as it was meant to be a joke race with lots of crashes for amusement of spectators. No prizes for anyone, but 1st place. The whole course was blocked off for entire time we were there before the race. We could only ride 2 laps before the race. I was blocked by lapped riders just before the finishing straight (that might be my own fault). The band, that was playing in the middle was making my ears bleed. Oh maybe I'm just bitter about not winning.

  • That's disappointing considering how little there is for track crits and being close after the Nocturn... you'd think organisers would want to build on the momentum.
Someone should have been flyering for the Notts event at the Nocturn too. But then, if it was just intended as a bit of fun/pre main event entertainment you can see why they wouldn't bother. Of course, the flip side to that is why charge riders £15 to enter?!

  • The spectators were cool, nice friendly Notts folk . That compare and the band tho! Well done Dimi.

  • Yeah I know exactly what you mean dimi3. It was meant to be a lot more serious. The guy that organised it, Peter Walsh, worked hard to get it going but Cycle Live Nottingham just didn't seem to care and made almost a joke out of it. Making it shorter on the start line, not letting us warm up. Such a shame.

I'm hoping after them seeing what a success it was they will be more encouraged to support it next year, after all it was the first time it was run. Its not easy setting up a race, especially a Track Bike Criterium, probably the most rare type of cycle racing, unfortunately.

We'll see, thanks for coming though. And yeah the band was f**king awful.

  • I'd mostly echo Dimi's points, but I'd stress that the Nottingham Fixed Gear guys who did most of the organisation were let down by the people running the racing on the day.

Sorry to hear that. I was under the impression, that it was organized by Nottingham Cycle Live. I'm pretty sure the next event will be a lot better.

  • Nottingham Fixed Gear approached the cycle live guys about adding a fixed crit to the event and did all the legwork. The cycle live guys were the ones who managed the event on the day and were the ones saying one practice lap etc.

  • I'd be more concerned at the organisers allowing at least one rider to ride with untaped bars and no end plugs, could have been very ugly.

  • Not to mention that mucky rusty chain, and I'm sure I heard a freewheel spin at a corner.

  • Quick release too.

  • Dont think anyone had freewheel!

  • Some pics I took of the fg race: (posted in road racing before I saw this thread)
