Yeah surely that weld can't be that strong without support. It holds most of the rider's weight.

Co-motion have been doing that kind of thing for years; looks iffy but they seem to hold up.

Co-Motion also build tandems with no diagonal tube. Pretty sure somebody there has a calculator and a book of engineering formulae :-)

Every single Carrera road bike Halfords sold is always, always too fucking big for the owner, no wonder they always have to raise their stem thinking the bar is too low.

On a bike that's too big, the long reach might confuse some people into thinking the bars are too low, because they will be so stretched out? Or maybe ed meant "too fucking small"
