It is a real shame that amazon got this patent, leaving us with this dismal state of bike photography. There must be a better option.

I don't know what the fuck that link is but anyway, Amazon have not got a patent for shooting against white backgrounds.
They patented a very specific studio set up including a transparent platform for the subject/model to stand on, and specific lighting arrangements meaning you get a continuous background floor to wall with reflection.
Like anybody really cares...

The Moet box makes it

Do you really just carry that Moët box everywhere you cycle? Should get a custom bottle cage made.
-
• #41033
i took both my bikes for a "shooting" and the box is fits perfect under the pedal.

[/IMG]- Amazon got a patent having something to do with taking photos of objects on white backgrounds.
- We keep seeing piles of bikes photographed against black backgrounds.
- ∴The Amazon patent is causing people to have to photograph their black bikes against black backgrounds.

I'd argue Amazon only trade from/in Luxembourg so aren't relevant to my UK work... joys of tax dodge.

Apart from the fact that they didn't patent using a white background so black bikes on black backgrounds are either done by someone who hasn't read news articles with credible sources and thinks they aren't allowed to use white backgrounds or because they wanted to for creative purposes.

Read this and then decideMy logic was valid because of post hoc, ergo propter hoc. That means that if two events occurred in succession, the former event caused the latter event. You can't argue with latin, sorry.

I commend you on your abuse of logic.
