• My hot water tap in the bath is fucked.
It's properly ancient and the washer fucked last week. It's dripping water. I can't fix it.
    How much? And when?
Bearing in mind I'm not a permanent resident of the house and I'm moving out soon.
    Please.
    Help.

  • Can you get access underneath the bath? if so is there a shut-off valve on the pipe leading to the hot tap?

If yes, then shutting off the water is very simple.

Undo the top of the tap, check what size washer you need, obtain washer, replace.

If the new washer doesn't fix it then you'll likely need to recut the valve seat - for which I have a valve-seat cutter, which is very simple to use.

Total cost to fix this is likely to be in the 10 - 30 pence range.
