And recycling and streamlining for the Summer shorts

No side opening. It's a total, fist sized pain in the ass trying to use the Ortleib without them. Looking for stuff requires camping somewhere and emptying everyone out. Threw you lights in there with other stuff? Good luck!
Sold it after a week. Got a Sag instead. Side zips, and a laptop/tech neoprene liner inside the already waterproof bag. Great stuff. Also not made for walking. That style bag are a bastard to walk in when packed.
I can not recommend ortlieb enough
Agree with B0N0R. I used an early Archie for years and still have it for #carryshitolympics duties but for everyday riding the Ortlieb is much better.
Light, comfortable on and off the bike and good value. You do need the internal carry divider but mine came with one anyway. My posture is distinctly less f'ked now as well.

I didn't carry pens in mine.

I don't doubt it's functionality, just ergonomics. Generally speaking, i find rolltops a pain without side zips.

Roll tops with side zips defeat the point of waterproof roll top bags surely?

Couldn't you wax/waterproof your self?
Yup but it takes an age - to reproof my not-a-Barbour-waxed-jacket soaked up two 400g tubs of dressing. And the jacket already had some wax in it.
Probably best to buy an already-waxed bag and rewax when/where necessary.
On the waterproofness scale, waxed cotton is somewhere between 'showerproof' and 'downpourproof'. Bear in mind that, short of welded rubberised/PU-coated fabric, no textile is waterproof for an extended period of time - even the best outdoors jackets will let in a bit of water at the seams after a couple of days in the rain. So if you're about to take an hour's ride with your laptop on your back, wrap it up in a pack liner/rubble sack before putting it in your bag.

I have 2 Ortlieb roll tops, one is for my climbing gear and has chalk powder inside it ( chalk bag doesn't close 100%) and have used that in major rain storms and the powder has still been dry, the other is for stuff I done want covered in chalk. both are allot comfier than my Bagjack of the same volume and I can carry a lot more because of it

is that an ortleib full of ortleibs ?

Full of internal mail bags.
I have the velocity as I needed a smaller day type bag. I'd rather it was fully waterproof and go withouth the easy access of side zips.

sick slingshot! Definitely want

Check ebay for Milbro slingshots, and trumark for the slingshot band, Im switching to red/tapered ones next, they seem to get good reveiws.. Plenty of 8mm ball bearings on the bay to..
There are cheaper china mades that i think might be easier shooters, the Mibro is pretty small so if you tilt your hand/grip/angle it throws the shot, but they are great fun anyways and pretty good to have in your pack to pass some time, the only thing that's better are fire crackers..:-)

This is the latest iteration of my key solution. M5 bolt and shaved down nyloc between a chain link. All normal keys fit on the bolt, with a single spacer inbetween (USB requires 2 nylon internal spacers to stop it rattling). and odd keys go on the chain link. It works better for me than Keysmart, or similar, as I don't have to match the depths on each side.
Also recently got a Topeak Ratchet Rocket Lite. I removed the little clamp from the pouch and attached it to my saddlebag, also put the bits in a little box instead of the pouch they come in. The thing is awesome, probably not robust enough to do crank bolts etc, but plenty of torque for most stuff on the road. Would definitely recommend.

very nice!

p.s. please don't copy my keys and break into my house, I would be most upset.

Excuse my daftness...
How does the M5 secure into the chain?
-
• #397
I've removed one of the bushings from the chain and replaced it with a nyloc nut. I had to drill out the hole it the chain a bit and file down the nut.

Anyone want this for £5, pickup Ladbroke Grove? I didn't get on with it as I have difficult keys, but may be good for someone?
It's one of these: http://www.ruckuscomp.com/goods/cat/

Ah, yes. Where's your house? (Just so we can avoid accidentally breaking into it.) :)
