• insurance/british cycling membership required?

I don't think so. It is being coached by LFGSSCC so they take the burden of insurance I believe.

This is an LFGSS CC event.

LFGSS CC is a British Cycling non-sponsored club. Clubs that are not corporate or sponsored get a basic insurance for free for events like this.

But... you must be a member of the club and it would help if you were a British Cycling member and you put LFGSS CC down as your club (or secondary club, I'm not precious... don't actually care, just complying with stuff).

This is a club event... it's just that the club has no membership fees and is open to anyone on the forum.

The whole point of the club is to provide opportunities like this, with other riders from here, whilst taking helping to care of the dull but necessary things... i.e. to reduce the friction of you getting involved and trying out stuff more often.

But, as a club event, yes you need to be a member of the club. That bit is free.

But, if you're not a BC member already (a lot of people are), then sign up to British Cycling, and put down "LFGSS CC" as your club, or visit this page after you've signed up: https://www.britishcycling.org.uk/club/profile?&club_id=6822.

If you are a brand new member to British Cycling then you get a discount: http://www.britishcycling.org.uk/clubs/article/20120607-club-static-Club-member-joining-British-Cycling-for-the-first-time--0

Otherwise, this is the page showing the package features: http://www.britishcycling.org.uk/membership/compare.

I would heartily recommend the Gold package... it includes personal accident insurance that is valid on your commutes.

    Booked.

The text in shopify says for newbies to bring a helmet. I guess that's wrong? (I hope so cos I don't own one)

Helmets are included, but you might prefer your own if you have one.
