  • besides which, how exactly does someone jumping a light affect you?

let me guess - 'they give cyclists a bad name'.

  • ... is bullshit and gratuitous abuse.

    Yeah, my thoughts exactly.

  • nope, you lost me.

  • gydrcdfvftdgcdf, you are sounding more and more like a right tosser.

  • sockpuppet i reckon.

  • anyone who thinks violence against cyclists is ever justified deserves a good old fashioned Brave kidney punchâ„¢

Y'see, if you just gave it some thought....

Joe Public sees cyclist going through red. Joe Public isn't that bright. Joe Public doesn't say, 'That cyclist went through on the red'. No. Joe Public says, 'Cyclists go through red lights!'

Fast forward a year or so and we've got stuff like ..

Cyclists: Red and Green - Learn the bloody difference!! - YouTube

On each and every occasion where I have complained to the operator of a motor vehicle, about his behaviour, he has retorted with some variant of 'fucking cyclists don't know what red lights mean'.

    Every. Fucking. Time.

I'm sick of it. I'm sick of being tarred with the same brush as the cuntstains who think that red lights don't apply to them. It doesn't matter how often we say 'We're not all like that,' or how often we say, 'We shouldn't all be judged on the behaviour of other cyclists'. We are.

Insert simpleton response below that you fondly imagine is evidence of your rapier wit...

  • gydrcdfvftdgcdf, you are sounding more and more like a right tosser.

    gutted

  • fiver on this guy is from P&J Ellis the coach company who's driver made an illegal manoeuvre and left an innocent woman life life changing injuries

  • fiver on this guy is from P&J Ellis the coach company who's driver made an illegal manoeuvre and left an innocent woman life life changing injuries

That would be 'whose driver', but no matter: I'm not.

    I don't own a car. Nor do I drive for a living.

    Better luck next time.

  • give me back my fiver then

  • there is no 'us', there is no 'we'. if you think there is, then you are simply misdiagnosing the problem and subsequently all you are really doing is reinforcing the prejudice you describe above.

now fuck off with your violent wank-fantasies you tepid streak of piss.

  • give me back my fiver then

It is quite fascinating, though. Every time someone on Usenet or on a web-based forum posts an opinion with which a sizeable proportion of the other posters disagree, he is immediately labelled one or more of:

    • Nazi
    • paedophile
    • troll
    • sockpuppet

I'm none of the above. Hope this helps.

    I don't own a motorized vehicle and haven't done so since 2005.

Oh, puhleeze. Grow the fuck up, son.

If you really think that there is no 'we' or 'us', then you're living in cloud cuckoo land.

Now go and finish your homework.

  • ^^ basic bitch.

  • He speaks the truth and however much we would like it not to be the case, it is. Drivers do not differentiate between cyclists, they see us as a homogenous group who all jump reds and ride on pavements.

Same as cyclists on this forum and others talk about taxi drivers, addison lee drivers and so forth. We generalise, that's the nature of people (ooh another generalisation).

  • #notallcyclists

Might register a sockpuppet account so I can rep this twice instead of just once.

  • anyone who thinks violence against cyclists is ever justified deserves a good old fashioned Brave kidney punchâ„¢

Mmmm violence... life's jam doughnut of joy.

    Kill them all!

    This.

Plus, there's the humungous hypocrisy of the cyclists who run a red light, and then bitch when someone in a car does the same.

'But, the potential for harm is greater with cars!!' they whine.

Spare me. It's about the law. We can't criticise others for breaking it, if we do exactly the same.

  • Mmmm violence... life's jam doughnut of joy.

    Kill them all!

Unfortunately, violence works. History demonstrates this beyond a shadow of doubt.

  • Dangerous and negligent drivers abound.

Confirmation bias reinforces preconceived and received perception of cyclists and other road users.

We should totally blame red light jumpers, for wearing sexy short skirts.

  • Drivers do not differentiate between cyclists,

    a) 'Drivers' is as unhelpful a term as 'cyclists' insofar as it utterly fails to differentiate between those that obey the law and those that don't.

they see us as a homogenous group who all jump reds and ride on pavements.

    b) then the problem is with the people doing the driving, not those doing the riding of the bikes.
