What diameter? I have all the sizes listed above in stock, but I don't know which one fits.

Hey Tester,
I've been trying to get hold of a low stack headset cover for quite some time. Would you mind shipping to Germany? I'd need a 47/2 for my Specialized Allez.(unfortunately I cannot send you a PM yet as my post count is too low)

If anyone wants a 46/2 in London, I've got one knocking about.
Hi Morgan, low post count so can't PM yet. If it's still rattling around in your parts box, I'm typically between NW7 and SE1 if that's anywhere in the vicinity of you.

My SuperSix it turns out already has a headset cover under the tapered shim. Cheers.

Tester before i send money for a 47/2, you wouldn't happen to be selling any of you're carbon expander bung's, cannondales one is rubbish and your's are nice :) the i.d. of my tube is 23.5mm if that counts for anything

It counts for everything, and I don't have one that size.

• #384
Will you any time soon?
-
• #385
No, I've only got one laying around because the machinist made two last time I asked for one. I can get them made as one-offs, but it's £30 to me using my bar stock, so £35 to you. You can probably find a local turner to do that for you.

Okay, I'll send money over now for a 47/2, and I'd be down for a carbon bung group buy in the future

Hmm. I got round to fitting this today (or asking a shop to do it as I'd run out of time last night).
There's quite a bit of gap. Not a sheet of paper gap. Is there something I should be doing?
Is it a compression ring problem?CAAD10. Do I need a shim of some kind? Furthermore, the rubber ring that used to sit around the head tube and "protect" the bearings no longer does this job.
I suppose a picture would help wouldn't it?

I have a cannondale fork. Unsure if i still have the original expander.

That does look wrong, considering this:
This is my CAAD10
-
• #391
I know.
I'm confused by it. -
• #392
should there be something under the stem cap?
Apart from the compression ring I mean. -
• #393
Is there a small spacer between the cover and the compression ring?
-
• #394
should there be something under the stem cap?
Well, the stem for a start :-)
The Slam-that-stem bearing cover should sit directly on the compression ring, except in cases where a shim is required to create clearance between the rim of the cover and the top of the head tub.

Lolz.
The bearing cover is sitting on top of the compression ring.
Would a shim help?
I dunno. I didnt have time to fit it on Tuesday, so let a shop do it. -

Would a shim help?
Only if you can find on of the right size, looks like you need something 1.125" ID, 1.375" OD and -0.10" thick

Lolwut? Swapping an Ahead stem is quicker than going to a bike shop
-
• #397
Ah the inverse shim? Do you have tartan paint to apply it with?
I agree, swapping a stem out and the bearing cover takes no time. Unfortunately, i wouldn't have had time to do it at work. Especially as I have dicks for thumbs.
