I got one of these from Revolution bikes based on this post from this very thread.
Cheap and decent.
Yep that's my experience too, it seems great.
Of course a handlebar bag poses the problem of what to do with your front light. Liking the look of fork mounted dynamo lights, but not wanting to shell out on a new wheel and/or an expensive light, I went for a B&M Ixon IQ fork crown mount and a Smart Lunar 35 lux front light. Despite not being the same brand the mounts fit perfectly, I read somewhere that Planet X's lights work too. Normal battery operated and good quality front light, plus the bits to fit it behind an ordinary caliper brake, for £25 total. Project cheap ugly FBNPNA is pretty much finished now.

^^ Don't think it's custom, it's a Haulin Colin porteur rack.
Imma buy one soon with the Tubus Tara.

You are correct. They do look good but for nearly $300 shipped I reckon having one made up in the UK may save you a fair bit.

Not sure, Velo Orange porteur rack is £120, the Haulin Colin is £60 more.
I'll get a custom rack for my Oak soon, so will find out, but won't be cheap (probably £200).

Yikes. I didn't think expect them to be that much. Might go have a chat with a couple of steel fabricators up here and see if they'll give me a quote.

That is amazingly expensive!

Cheap rack is usually £20-40, mainly alu.
Steel rack tend to cost more, so expect about £60-80 (Tubus).

I might have a go at brazing one up myself (when i get some time).

Watch that front light, I've busted 2 examples of that style while hitting bumps; the clip on the mount quickly wears down and no longer keeps it secure. Probably best to remove the entire unit instead of just the light when you're taking it off the bike.

For a few pounds and a few hours I would encourage anyone to experiment with making their own racks - mine from some years ago are still structurally fine although rattle can paint isn't the best.

Silver soldered joints (front) have worked as effectively as the brazed joints (rear) for the home made racks on my 'shopping' bike, but the lower melting point of silver solder was more readily achieved with a propane torch - brazing was a bit marginal.
Curves were achieved by close spaced multiple hacksaw cuts 90% through the tube on the inside of the bend, pulling it to shape, and flooding with solder / braze. This gives something close to a kink free curve without needing a pipe bending jig, and allows a bit more creativity...

^ Good to know. Going to start having a chat with the fabricators and at the same time a few friends who might have some of the necessary equipment and space (got a feeling I'd get into a bit of trouble if I start this project in the flat...)

Just came across this frame, I think this has some good potential, wouldn't buy one my self though.

Thanks! I went for a nice looking neo-retro triple triangle build, but it wasn't very practical, hence this setup.
I'm glad you like it, I'm most pleased with it...
Maybe PDW mudguards next and a 20mm carbon wheelset or just a different wheelset as a couple of spokes have broken on this one.
Custom prototype thing, he has a pedalroom: http://www.pedalroom.com/members/jdg and a tumblr: http://bikefukr.tumblr.com with all the informations
