Sorry to those who missed out.

Hi, I'm selling this road bike to partly fund something new and fun. I really love this bike. I rode my first 200mi on it and it has taken me up hill, down dale and through the pyrenees. Its a very aggressive and stiff ride. Sadly it has always been just a touch too big for me and it is time to cut my losses. It has spent recent times on my turbo and this bike deserves to be ride outside.

C Seat Tube to C Head Tube: 57cm
    Seat Tube to C-BB: 60cm
    10cm Stem
    Curvy-wurvy Onda forks.
Non compact bars stretch it out a lot
Pedals not included (they are pretty fucked anyway).

I have riden this bike to buggery. It came with partial 105 and Pinarello MOST groupset when new. I wore the original group out in a year of distance riding in sandy environments in winter. I carried on riding on the knackered parts for another year or so and then had a crash turning right on a wet manhole cover and broke the right shifter. It turned out to be cheaper to put on a complete brand new 105 group which is what is currently fitted. In total, the group has mostly been riden on the turbo and has probably done less than 100mi on the road.

The headset bearings wore out during the time I was training on it in the winter so they have recently been replaced. When the new bearings were being pressed in a small hairline crack appeared in the paintwork on the head-tube. Other than that, there are a handful of grit chips in the paint on the aluminium and virtually no cosmetic damage to carbon parts. I'd say that the f&f are in very good used condition for a five year old bike that has been used in all weathers.

The wheels are hand built Omegas on Shimano Tiagra hubs. I built these up two years ago and only fitted them last year. They run very smooth and true. The wheels have mostly seen turbo use apart from when Rowhan borrowed the bike for a couple of months when his Ribble fell apart.

New tyres will be required (blistered from turbo use) and the fitted bar tape is manky. I have some bar tape that I could fit before sale but it is orange so you probably don't want me to do that.

As always, you're welcome to try before you buy. I have sold plenty of stuff on the forum and want to maintain a good rep.

Looking for £450 or approx 1.2 BTC all in (including some spare headset bearings).

Apologies for dodgy bar angle. Bike has always been a touch too long for me (I'm 6'4" with shorter arms and longer legs).

I am unable to post this bike, please don't ask as I simply don't have the time to find a box and get it collected. Bike is in SE1.

  • I'm going to have a thing about this, just such a massive bargain!!

  • Isn't that like insanely cheap?

  • Im focused in build my fixed right now, but this looks good.

  • I'm going to have a thing about this, just such a massive bargain!!

Talk to me mate. It will be touch too big for you too though sadly. Unless you are the anti-T-rex

    Isn't that like insanely cheap?

Maybe. A quick look on ebay shows that these sell for more in this good condition. I'm not on here to make money. I bought this new from a friend's cycle shop in Essex and he sorted me a mega bargain. I think the price is fair for what I paid for it and how much use it has had (good condition though it is).

This bike has more sentimental value for me than anything. I rode my first 200miles on it...my first 3 day 400mi...my first sub 6 hour 100. My first sub 30 10...I set all my average fat-boy records on this bad boy and lost the feeling in my left ring finger in the process!

  • Having said that, if this doesn't sell in the next few days, off to the bay it goes.

  • Isn't that like insanely cheap?

Yes because the seller is an top guy.

    GLWS

  • Jesus christ I'd buy it just as a wall ornament for that price.

  • Nothing stopping you doing that! I'll even throw in a couple of display hooks!

  • Can I dibs and subject to where abouts in SE1 you are come and meet it tomorrow or Thursday? PM'd

  • 2nd dibs

  • Ok, so a handful of people are viewing this over the next few days starting from this evening and I have a couple of tentative viewings for it next week.

  • Very sad update.

I was just cleaning up the frame for its first viewing and have noticed a very suspicious looking hairline crack on the top tube of all places. I'm super paranoid that the extra stresses of using it on inclined turbo sessions all winter has done something bad to the tubing.

For this reason, I am closing this thread and going to get the frame checked out (after consulting Lord Tester) by the company that x-rayed another one of my frames when there was concern over a crack. Hopefully it will get the all clear like my old Dolan Carbon Pista did.

Sorry to waste people's time. Safety is paramount. I'll post back here when I have some news.

  • Ok...we are good to go. Mark on top tube is only a scratch. Please see following post for picture of the scratch that I found.

    http://www.lfgss.com/post4282762-61121.html

Sale back on at £450 as I do not feel that this scratch significantly alters the condition of the frame. The frame has had lots of use as mentioned in the description.

  • Fantastic price btw...I have a guy who may be interested, although need to double check sizing...

Out of interest, where did you get the x-raying done?!

  • This bike wasn't x-rayed (everybody has told me to man up and stop being paranoid, t'is just a scratch).

I had my Dolan Carbon Pista X-rayed and ultrasonically treated by Luescher Teknik.

  • dibs PM'd
