I thought bar ends were cool, I'm digging down tube shifters at the moment for some awesome friction goodness. I might switch back at some point as they interfere with my frame bag a little. It's not really a problem on roads but mildly annoying on rough hilly stuff (although I don't know how much of that I'll be doing on this bike), maybe SSCX is the future...
