Oooh. I will see how my miles and speed go up in the next week or so and maybe, just maybe, join you on this.

Bah! Sounds like a nice ride but if I am still in London I will definitely be chasing the sun instead.

Hopefully I'll have got through my first round, and will be racing at this (in which case, you should all ride another 15 or so miles and cheer me on!).

How exciting KT!! Keep us updated with your progress, I'd be well up for an extension to the ride to see you in action.

Hmmm - I think you can safely plan on an afternoon at the Chocolate Theatre Cafe. My goal is to get through the Friday round. If I get through Saturday morning I'll be very pleasantly surprised.

Windsor is a manageable distance seeing as I haven't done a long ride since pre-pregnancy! I can now also get my partner to mind the baby for the day...I'd need to be back by dinner though...

Anyway, long shot, but I'd love to do a ladies ride again!

I did a recce last week and had a great time, the only negatives being nearly having the electric gates to Windsor Great Park close on me and also getting stuck in a kissing gate, only to find, when I eventually managed to wriggle my bike free, that there was a special gate for bikes just next to me. I cycled down the Long Walk, which is a really awesome long downhill bit with Windsor Castle straight ahead – I felt like a princess in Shrek or something – only to find out the next day that you’re not allowed to cycle on it (hence the new route doesn't go down it).

Four parks (Hyde, Richmond, Bushy and Windsor), a lock (Teddington), three palaces (Buckingham, Hampton Court, Windsor), quite a few reservoirs and two sewage treatment works (so glam!). I saw loads of animals, too.

It’s gradually uphill from Chertsey, with one sudden steep bit in Virginia Water and a hill in Windsor Great Park. But otherwise it's flat.
