• ~~I've had this classic steel steed in France for a while now and I have not used it much since I brought it back to London.

It is a 56cm (centre to centre for both seat tube and top tube) Bottecchia made in Columbus Aelle tubing with chrome forks. Size wise, it is set up for me at 5ft10.5 and I would say that it will fit someone between 5ft9 and 6ft1.

It comes in the colourful Team ADR-Agrigel-Bottecchia livery and this 1990 model followed their 1989 Tour de France led by Greg LeMond.

The equipment on this classic steel bike is great - the groupset is mostly Shimano 105 1050 so that includes headset, rear derailleur, bottom bracket, brakeset, wheelset and 6 speed cassette. The Front (triple) derailleur is Sachs-Huret and the triple chainset is a 170mm Stronglight 100.

I have changed the brake cable levers and brake cables (inners/ black outers), redone the bar tape in black.

There is also a good set of puncture proof tyres on it - 700x23 Specialized Armadillo front and 700x28 Panasonic Pasela rear), a purple Vetta wired computer, a new Genesis saddle in black, Maillard pedals and a 90mm ATAC quill stem.

    • Comes with two purple bottle cages
    • 27.0mm seatpost which moves freely
    • Mavic MA2 rims

Being a 1990 model, the bike has been around the block a few times and the frame has various scuffs and some chain suck, nothing major. Hipsters call it 'patina' or 'character'. The downtube shifters work well, either friction or indexed.

The bike rides very well and is ready for a new owner – come and take it for a spin!

The bike is stored at my flat in Brixton Hill, I also work in Putney so I can take the bike there.

    Price to sell at £300!

    Cheers

    Vince ~~

  • That RD housing is in a bit of a sorry state.

  • That RD housing is in a bit of a sorry state.

It is not looking too good, you're right.

I changed the inner/outer brake cables at the weekend so should really have done this at the same time.

I will sort it out tonight - will colour code to black.

The rear hub is a Shimano 105 Uniglide with a 6 speed cassette.

The smallest sprocket is effectively a lockring with a built-in spacer and the other splined sprockets are reversible, so that if you wear out one side, you could flip them over and you would have a 'brand new' cassette.

It is also easy to swap hubs and fit a standard Hyperglide body.#CSB
