Yep those crank need attention asap, just hope you haven't fucked them already. I didn't have any issues installing mine, just had to "feel" when the splines are lined up... (if this hadn't been easy I would have removed the bolt)
I found a 25.4 Thomson stem looked way too chunky on the 1" forked Donohue, even with the oversized down and top tubes, this would really benefit from a slender/graceful stem imo...
