Since Emmy is thinking if going that route as well (guess its a catching idea!) I have it some thought and concluded I would favour a Alfine crank for a 1xn setup. Tester approved, external bb, has chainguard, is black. Alternatively for MTB cranks you can get a narrow- wide chainring cheaper from planet x. And I'm told that the clutch mech (ie sram) is more important I'm reducing chain drop than the chainring, bit I've no idea which mech have the clutch, how much they cost, and which shifters they need.
