Shit, the consensus is that the 944 isn't actually a silly want? Peer approval is step 1 down a dangerous road.

I don't think I'll get that 924, he's got my number and email address, hasn't got in touch, hasn't replied to my retro rides PM or my tweet, and since the eBay link was posted the title has changed to include "deposit taken".
Not my deposit.
I thought it was a buyer's market these days but I've shown keen interest to 3 people and it would appear none of them have any desire to sell their car.
I'm leaning towards an S8 that's going but it's in W Yorks.

S8? Wow. Small man big car.

Lotus Elise S2 111R

You're a bit big for one of those, no?

An absolute hoot.
I hired one for a weekend when the VVT first came out.
A four wheeled Rd350LC.
An addictive powerband that reels you in at every opportunity.
A quick way to get more licence points.I'm unsure what they're like as a second hand buy and suspect there are many Cat C and D around.

Just in case you prefer the way a car drives to how it looks, try a 924S. They have the same motor as the 2.5 8V 944 but the steering is far, far sweeter, they change direction much more nimbly and generally feel more on their toes and ready to dart about.
If you must get a 944 get an early one, they were still built with sports car steering. By the time the oval dash cars had arrived in mid 85 Porsche had decided they were GT cars and didn't need to be nice to drive, just comfy.
They're still great cars for what they cost, but a 924S is greater stil.
I dont think they will ever be hugely revered classics because they're built so well that too many have survived despite being neglected.

Got to be careful.
924 looking a bit CDT teacher...
One might have to break out the elbow patches.

Considering a 924?
Invest in a pair of stringback driving gloves to complete the look.

For sure...a dangerous road.
A friend fell in love with my 944, and got one for himself. Advertised as £3350, non negotiable from a garage in Oxford. We got it for £2600. Had a couple of small faults which put the fear of God into the salesman, but which took 30 minutes to put right. Baltic Blue and in nice condition. He's had it a year now, and thinks its the best car he has ever had. Absolutely smitten with it.

It does seem the market for the 924 is moving at last. Saw a really sweet Guards Red 924 in Kidderminster. Great condition. Sold very quickly. So they do seem to be in demand.

Mate of mine in Sydney is on his second one. Both turbos. The first survived plenty of track days and day to day driving. Because he was a bit obsessed things got fixed that didn't overly need it. Although a turbo rebuild was expensive. He eventually had new adjustable coil overs all round, did some engine work and had the thing corner weighted (is that right?) Was a very nice car. His new one is a mint condition black one. Think he's leaving it alone as stock. To help change your mind, they are worth over 30-40 k for a good one in aus. So enjoy the value over here!

I would buy it, it looks rad and fun for 950 notes.

I love the 900 turbo! Awesome.
In other news; I test drove the new 220d yesterday with the sports auto box (8 speed!). It's really lovely. We're waiting for the missus car scheme details but if that doesn't work, i'll be putting an order in by the end of the month. Excited!!

Or this one?
If you buy this you'll never sell it.

If I'm honest, the 900 looks much nicer, but it's Auto. Can't be having that.

Picked up the Scirocco on Friday. Am chuffed to bits with it.. The DSG gearbox is amazing.
Drives superbly. And for those that care, it sounds like no diesel i've ever driven!I also got a SeeSucker mini bomber bike rack for a pair of bikes on the roof.
Seems pretty good, although I will be shitting it when I use it for the first time on Wednesday.....! -

Nice work! Not seen those racks before, but they look pretty useful. Enjoy the car!

I got mine from Mud Dock Cycles in Bristol. they dont seem to be that readily available online.
Agreed. The 944, either S2 or Turbo, is a brilliant car for hardly any money. I have a 911 Turbo too, which is obviously worth ten times the price of my 944 S2, but pound for pound, the 944 makes me smile more. Handles really nicely, and a sweet engine. I love my 944.
Thats why I want another, as a track car. Surely people will eventually wake up and realise how good they are ? Prices cant stay bargain basement for ever.
