  • ...what the actual fuck is sufferscore?

Time spent with high heartate, with a bit added for fast onset of heartrate? Pretty much* as good as the info from time spent in power and time spent over lactate threshold accelerating really hard.

*unless you want to split the figures out.

  • Poor mans TSS.

  • If it takes into account intensity at the same time as volume. I Guess its as good as any metric.

Been over 200 a lot of late. Which would sound great.

But looking at TP tells me my TSS is too low, while my IF is too high. Or least thats the case for someone training endurance. So having the intensity separate is a big bonus.

  • We're (I'm) killing this thread..... :(

I could have told you that :-)

You seem to have developed some great endurance through very few endurance rides, so whatever you're doing on the turbo must be working.

IF is just a posh term for much and hard you're pressing the pedals in one data-nugget. I'd have thought you'd get something close by measuring the speed-of-increase in HR with a little maths for a figure, or just watching your graphs.

Freebie Training Peaks wont let me see time-in-zones... so Strava it is for the moment.

  • This months 48hrs should be doable got a 600 audax and 3 days touring(400). Still going for the gran fondo this week though.

    Cheers.
Believe it or not. I mainly do <45min sessions of sprint intervals. As a middle aged dad, and hobby cyclist. This is obviously of crucial importance cough.

The endurance thing is more a natural ability, and a massive dose of bloody mindedness.

    That sucks.
They have crazy offers occasionally. I jumped on a bargin years sub. But if Strava premiumn does enough, and you're already using Strava for the social side. I Guess that would be easier.

  • Am gutted was all set to complete my first Grand Fondo this weekend, competing in the Essex Explorer 62 miles, then cycling back to Chelmsford and then back from Liverpool St to home all in all 85 miles. Must have stopped the Strava app after the Essex ride, so it sees my whole day as two rides. What a numpty.

  • You can ask them to splice the two rides together. I accidentally stopped my garmin 55 miles into a 300 audax. I sent them an email via the support button on the bottom of their site and a couple of days later they spliced the whole thing together.

  • Cheers Yeti, try that

  • Not strava, but related to pushing yourself to the limit.

The TransAm bike race started 3 days ago. Unsupported, 4200 miles across america.

Mile Hall has put down 1000 miles in 3 days. Machine.

  • Thats serious endurance!

  • Just used the strava route mapping tool for the first time.

About a million times better than garmin connect's, which always crashes when I use it. Wish I'd started using the Strava one a long time ago...

  • GO ED, XD gotta back a Brit and he's in 3rd

  • Mike Hall is a brit, and in 1st. Ed Pickup is 3rd, and only 23 yrs old, pretty amazing.

  • Mike hall didn't have a flag when I looked, think ill go for the underdog a strong start isn't everything :)

  • They have crazy offers occasionally.

I've just got a free trial going.

Being able to see peak sections of a ride and a hrTSS totals for rides/weeks is all very nice.

  • are there any tools to create a graph of average speed each week (to see if improvements are being made)

  • Yeah, just go on Veloviewer. Serious stat-heavy tool. Probably more addictive than Strava

  • cheers!

  • are there any tools to create a graph of average speed each week (to see if improvements are being made)

You can see it for the current and previous week in your club leaderboard.

  • yep I found that and thought there must be a better way to view especially if you want to know it over a year

any tips on veloviewer im a bit lost.

  • Just trial and error. You can't mess up your ride info as far as I know, but it's definitely a learn-as-you-use scenario.

IMO - best feature is being able to see your best 1/2mi, 1mi, 5mi & 10mi etc. of each ride, in terms of HR, speed. Much better than scanning a ride on Strava analysis and makes it far more easy to identify certain problem stretches of road to target on subsequent rides.

  • had winter off

still - would have hoped to see quicker improvement back up to pace :(

i was faster back in 2013 on my fixed, slower in 2014 now i have a rodie
