A mild electric shock from pipework/cooker etc. could indicate a more serious problem. If a live wire has been nicked somewhere and is in contact with unbonded pipework then you could get a relatively small shock to earth each time you touched it. If you touched the pipework as the same time you were in contact with an object which is earthed (washing machine etc.) you are in for more than just a tickle. Definitely get a plumber or sparky in to have a look at it.

A proper investigation of this really *does *need to be carried out. To make sure it isn't an intermittent problem, you need to keep a record of what's going on. I suggest you start stockpiling the water in containers so that the proper authorities can make their own assessment of the problem - tests will need to be carried out on **each **container. You may think it's easier to do this is large containers for convenience (e.g. a bucket, washing up bowl, dog) but smaller containers will give better accuracy. Label each container. If no-one has contacted you about the problem within 5 days, continue to collect the water.

So this has nothing to do with bikes. And no, I did not perform a search to see if this question had been answered previously!
I recently moved into a new flat, and the water from the kitchen tap hurts. Really. Regardless of the pressure or temperature of the water, it stings badly whenever it touches any kind of cut or scrape on my hands (like hangnails, etc). It feels almost like pouring alcohol on a cut, or maybe being jabbed with a needle.
The water from the other taps in my flat do not do this (and thank god the shower doesn't). Any idea what is causing this? Anyone else ever have this problem?
The water tastes fine and looks ok. Although now I'm thinking maybe I shouldn't drink it.
I know I'm late coming to the thread, but are other people experiencing this? Flatmates, partner etc?
Probably best to rule out you being a little on the nutty side before broadcasting it to your letting agency... ;p

I would, but I'm using all my available jars, bowls, bottles, etc to store my own urine.

Good question! Yes, my wife has noticed it as well.

In that case you've already made a good start. Don't forget to label all containers of urine - the authorities will want to cross-reference those by date with the containers of water (if they're doing their job correctly, of course).
You may wish to ask neighbours who aren't experiencing the same problem to provide their own excreta samples as controls.
