IIRC that's a pretty tasty junction for cyclists.

It's not the best of roundabouts, it comes off the inner ring road and links it to a main route in and out of town and cars take a fair bit of speed around it, you also get a lot of people doing it in the wrong lane to jump traffic queues.

Yeah I try to avoid using this roundabout if I can help it. Sad news :(

There is a picture of the car on that 'mad cycle lanes of Manchester' blog. I find it hard to believe it was going at the 30mph speed limit.

Came across this just after it had happened, Body on the road, face down, head surrounded by a pool of blood, about 40 seconds before the ambulance arrived...no attempt at CPR or resuscitation just covered her with a white sheet.... Really fucking nasty... She was using the pedestrian crossing, she ended up 10m down the road and her bike another 10m on....

Fuck.

On a side note, as this happened right by my flat and has obviously been a shock for everyone on the estate, there has been talk of fixing a ghost bike to the railings at the scene, any donations of scrap parts that could be used would be appreciated....

Once again, the cyclist collided with the car but the driver is being charged? WTF?

Terribly sad news
That roundabout is busy and drivers go fast down mancunian way. Old school-car-centric infrastructure inappropriate so close to the centre of town

walked past earlier, sad scene with flowers and "did you see" posters. All the more so as some boy racers had just stacked their vw golf into the barriers. :(

My gf uses that crossing every day because she doesnt feel confident enough to tackle the roundabout.
