They must have reopened it today as it is now opened. The Mall and Constitution Hill definitely, but Horse Guards looks like it could be shut at any given moment. They have the beach volleyball courts set up now

No matter how many road closure, walking on cleat, alternate route, etc.
We're still faster than motorised vehicle.

I ride a bike... there's no such thing as a road closure.

Erm, there was a felled lamppost across the junction of Clerkenwell Road and St John Street.
Does that count...? -

i can see that from my office window the cross rail station being built too
it's easy to squeeze through the cones
it's not actually blocked and there are some alternatives -

It's when you don't ride on the pavement.

They have closed the Mall & Horseguards etc again and they will remain closed until after the olympics. I tried going up Whithall, too busy, Park Lane, ok but a bit manic and you really have to hit it hard to keep up with the traffic and not be vulnerable. Last night I thought I would cycle through Hyde Park, along the cycle lane parrallel to Park Lane. Never, ever again. By far the most dangerous experience I have had cycling in London :)
Do people coming down the hill three abreast have right of way other those coming up the hill or are they just all mad?
I couldn't believe it -

Were the 3 abreast folks on Boris Bikes by any chance?
I work further south on Grosvenor Place, so don't go up that far, but it looks horrid.
Have you tried Birdcage Walk, or is that shut again? Last time it was shut for cars, over the Jubilee, cyclists were still using it as they could get through the cones. It was lovely!
Round the back by St James Park station is still okay, down Petty France/Tothill Street and out by Westminster Abbey.
Though that is probably a long way round, not sure what your general route is.

Well I work on Victoria Street opposite Scotland Yard, my usual route took me round the streets you mention, down HorseGuards, the Mall and right onto Marlborough Road towards Mayfair.

For long term london traffic alterations.
Apologies if already a thread.Putney bridge will be closed for at least 3 months from July 2014.
Cyclists will have to walk bikes over.
Traffic is going to be a joke, but maybe more fun on the supply roads...

I'm massively looking forward to that, honestly. I only use that bridge once a week or so but the potholes are beyond parody
Do we have a thread on road closures and their effects on traffic and for peple to alert when the roads are open again. May be useful for the Olympics
The Mall, Constitution Hill and Horseguards are all closed which is a massive pain in the arse. I don't like walking too far in my cleats so the choice for me going North from Victoria is to go up Grosvenor place or along Whitehall both a complete nightmare at the moment. And both options really screw the rest of my journey home
