People are banned for threats of violence.

No-one has reported any post recently made by CLP/messyrage in which there has been a threat of violence. If one has been made, report it.

So up till now, users that have been banned long term, DJ and Pisti.... So they've both been banned long term and threatened with perma-banning.

At which point was there behaviour as bad as clp's?

I met CLP, actually I bought from him a disc wheel and at that time I wasn't aware of his reputation on the forum.
He looked to me like a young guy that didn't know much about bikes but someone that has fun swapping and playing around with """hhsb""" parts. Nothing bad I guess.
As result I got this disc (it had a dura ace 6 speed cassette on, so I assume he has never been able to make fixed) that works fine and was pretty cheap as well.
So from my side nothing nasty as this thread wants to show, just a very young chap that took reeaaaally wrong the spirit of the forum and started a war with anyone that went against his point of view, probably thinking that's how internet works.
I hope he realise, when his ban expires, that he has a lot to learn about bikes and he needs to take this forum attitude on the right side and not getting offended when he shoots it too high.
He's bikes are not so beautiful maybe and staying in a place like this might help him to find his way and learn something more about.

I bought a saddle from CLP. It was reasonably priced and despite my inability to find the exact meeting spot, he was a very pleasant chap.

I bought my rear wheel of clp, i dont know him personally but in person he seemed like a nice guy, he sold me almost exactly what he described and he gave me little discount but yeah I think this thread isn't fair on him but he does need to sort his anger issues it seems and the image he portrays of himself on here isn't a good look.

I met clp at critical mass last month when I shouted at some dude on a low pro "with clearances like that you must be on the forum". We rolled and chatted for a bit and he was a total dude, so yeah. Suppose some people come over badly on the net.

I too have bought from him.
DA cranks were fair priced and he seemed nice enough. Chucked in an extra chainring and crank bolts for free.

I have no problem with threatening behaviour but it is "losing" and not "loosing". There are some standards that must be maintained.

I will ffm, thanks for your neutral input. I just think this has been going on for too long. A whole year of people hating on me without actually knowing me on a forum about bikes. That's it is a bout bikes we all love them so why not leave it at that?

This has been suggested before. To be honest the people who are close to me (parent's, girlfriend, friends (yes i have friends)) probably wouldn't want me too at all. They have read all the posts that have flared up on here and just don't want me to mix with people who openly call and think I'm a cunt or whatever online. They think this has been stressful enough. I don't blame them, why go to drinks with people who thinkk of you like that without knowing you

Online is totally different to real life.

I only enforce forum rules according to things that happen on the forum.

If there have been threats off the forum, you should go to the police with it. They police things off-forum.

They would do nothing about it because they're also unaware of any laws against what you call cyber bullying, which seems to be a playground concept dreamt up by politicians and other strange people.

Some aspects of what you call bullying are covered by other laws, including the civil stuff within the Defamation Act and the criminal stuff to do with harassment.

The police would be interested in any threats of physical violence against you, and I would and have urged that if any have been made you should go to the police about it. If it's criminal, you should speak to them.

Of course they're unlikely to look upon your claims seriously if it does turn out that you've been making physical threats as well.

The whole point of myself and others urging you to chill, step away form the keyboard and compose yourself is to save you from that scenario. You have no defence if you come out swinging every time, why not let those who wish to wind you up make their own bed and lie in it, instead of trying to jump into bed with them each time.

The available evidence would indicate this guy is an idiot - it's probably best not to bother reasoning with him.
