1) Regents Park and commuter / taxi / tourist ped dodging
2) Epping, braving Lea Bridge Rd at c.5.30-6
3) Sit on arse
Went for option (2), left mine (Stoke Newington Church Street) about 5.45. The traffic down LBR wasn't too bad... Clapton roundabout was carnage, and then it only got really congested in a few areas around Woodford,on the road leading to the North Circ roundabout and somewhere else I can't remember. Once I was into the forest it was fine, as you'd suspect. The way home a couple of hours later was surprisingly quiet, even less cars than a weekend lunchtime / afternoon when I'd normally be heading home from Essex.
Not really done a 'proper' ride after work before, only short turbo sessions, was good fun, felt like an adventure. However, would need to plan better; had eaten lunch at 12 and little thereafter so was pretty sluggish.
