Bike Insurance Touring

I'm going on a tour from Venice to London and need to take out some insurance. Just wondering what companies other people have used. So for all the companies I have found will cover me personally won't seem to pay out anything if anything happens to the bike. They are insisting that I need to take out two separate insurances - one for the bike which is generally priced as an annual payment and then some travel insurance to cover me for the trip. Surely this cannot be the case?

Just looking in to single trip cycle tour cover, I'm cycling from London to Hamburg in September, CTC seems to be comprehensive at £50. I'll be booking early September but if anyone has any other suggestions I'd be interested to know.
