As fussballclub says a bit later is better, but there's a balance to be struck. I actually went out with dbr on Thursday night last week at 7pm last week, it was busy going out via Lea Bridge Road up to the North Circular but fine after that, so that's only the first four miles. I reckon 7pm is about optimal in the traffic/light equation.

It's definitely not more hassle than it's worth. The view from the top of Banks Lane as the low evening sun set over the verdant green wheat around the footpath to Fiddlers Hamlet was proper lovely.
Also don't go out fixed with dbr on his Look if you value your knees ;)
