Edit: couldn't find you.
My bad. In-game I'm eltname. Somehow. In Steam I'm cyoa
I also researched rifles and it would seem for now the standalone version is pretty limited in terms of sniping. The long range scope twinned with a bipod on a Moisinseems the best option I've experimented with. All readily available at the big airport. I've had a bit of amusement sitting on top of the air traffic control tower making a lot of noise and seeing how far I can hit z's from. Not very far is the answer.
As for disappointment at how 'easy' it seems. Yeah, a bit. But I think as it moves from Alpha to Beta to release it'll balance out. I think the biggest challenge players will face will be social, so busy servers are key to tension. Currently I've been finding empty servers to practise on which are basically Left 4 Dead sims on a big map. Of course the fact that you could basically fall down a flight of steps and die at any moment keeps you on your toes.
