• Was it deliberate that that article is illustrated by someone typically not wearing one properly? Probably not.

  • I started arguing on there but there are way too many incredibly thick Americans.

"If Michelle got her big ass on a bike it wouldn't make any difference to helmets because of the libtards and Hilary, yeah!"

  • Tis the torygraph - new editor is following the Daily Hate approach of click bait and US viewings. Some of their columns / blogs make 1930s Daily Express look liberal - the latest comments to the 'we're all racist' blog being a case in point with people proudly announcing their xenophobia and prejudice. Posted I assume from Costa Brava / Woking.

  • From the comments :-

Attention all you with stories about helmets saving your lives!
Because you fell, had a helmet, and didn't die, this is not proof that the helmet saved your life. You may feel that it is true, but what you feel is not proof.
I suggest all of you duplicate the accident you had, only without a helmet!
Once you are dead, you will be coming a lot closer to proving your point.
    Now get to it!

I like to tell people this when they start preaching.

This is the only really true fact in this whole debate and need to be shared across all platforms

  • I have had two accidents on bikes. One i made a ramp when i was 8 years old and tried to ramp it on my Raleigh Strika, it didn't work out and i landed on my jaw. a helmet wouldn't have helped.

No.2 accident i hit a car, flew 10 feet in the air and landed on the tarmac on my hands and knees... as humans normally do. i wrecked my hands and knees but my head was fine.

I am about to start cycling again and am in two minds about wearing a helmet.

  • I am about to start cycling again and am in two minds about wearing a helmet.

Despite the 124 pages of discussion giving the opposite impression, it's actually a very insignificant decision, in that wearing/not wearing a helmet has such a tiny effect that it's really not worth worrying about.

  • If you are in two minds you should wear two helmets.

Yes. Unless youre obliged to in racing.
My wits keep me safe and I had a near death two years ago.
Fuck insurance firms and the rest.

    Tell us more...

  • Me = knocked off by car. Carted off to hospital to be diagnosed with a subdural haematoma. Doctors thought they'd have to drill a hole in my head (cooool!) but in the end, despite spending a week in a neurological ward, the only treatment I had was regular paracetamol. Helmet? You betcha. There may well be only 1% of accidents where a helmet helps you. But it's not 0%. Do the math.

  • maths.

  • Having said that, if I die from not wearing a helmet it's stupid, but if my kids die from not wearing a helmet it's not stupid if they're out and about larking on their bikes.

  • You'll have noticed I'm desperately trying to get my 3 posts in so I can start PMing people who have interesting stuff for sale and kick off my own threads etc.

I've had a hole drilled in my head and I almost always wear a helmet.

    Helmets cause brain surgery!

  • I would never subject my children to the increased risk of close passes, strangulation and rotational injuries that are attendant to helmet-wearers and I don't even have any children!!!

  • want some?

  • SClENCE THO!!!

  • helmets are clearly just amplifiers for the mind control rays that the driving overlords use to pacify the public transmitted from their car radios in order to maintain control over the roads of britain.

    WAKE UP SHEEPLE!!!!

  • Mmmm, if you're into conspiracy theories is it possible that no helmet manufacturer lobbies for helmet compulsion cos they know full well that sales would plummet along with cycling usage.

Bloke told me in a pub.

    WAKE UP SHEEPLE!!!!

They're specially treated to bind with the mind control drugs released in chemtrails.

  • I've had a hole drilled in my head
