I agree, I had a similar idea on my mind last year after HellsBells. I'm practicing on my own as well, but there are some stuff which you can't do alone. And plenty of stuff which you need some help in or a useful know how which gives you the final move, reach..:) I really miss that we don't really do any practicing, training here in Bristol, but I think it would be handy for everyone.. Not many dedicated players:(
I'm so keen, happy that you came up with this Nik!
So if there are some weekend trainings I'm more than happy to join! I try weekdays as well though, but obviously weekends are easier.. -

In. I can potentially do any day if downs/Mitch/London fields/newington; if at herne hill I can only do weekends.

Haha, you're all hilarious. :)
I think if people want to do drills night and aren't female maybe we could do one week mixed drills one week women drills? So a regular weekly drill night. The question is which court?

Amazing! I'm totally in!!!! :)

I'm in as well, I can only improve :)

General idea - YES PLEASE. Drills sessions would be really useful.
Newington is most convenient for me but I can go to any court.
I can't make Tuesdays or weekends.Ladies bench somewhere in the UK - Great idea (but unfortunately I am not free on weekends for the foreseeable future.)

i would be up for it when i'm back- healthy and healed ...
sundays and weekdays work for me... just not saturday (at least for now).
any court is good...
good idea -

Cool, so we have numbers!
How about this week? Wed at london fields? Or the columbia road court?
It really doesn't need to be a good court if we are mostly doing drills anyway..
Thoughts?

There were a few ladies at the Vdrome interested in playing. I spoke to them on a sunday at ladies track i think. Either that or it could have been a monday, which is ladies under 18. Not sure, but 2 of them were really keen. Do you want beginners?

Hello Poloverse
I am reading a lot online about female players and bike polo. Its an interesting topic. Why so few girls? Why not on the podium (so much), or in top teams?
Despite our small percentage of the overall community, we still organise and run and ref as much or often more than our male counterparts. So we are here and we are keen and we care about bike polo and I know a lot of us are hungry to improve!
In light of all this I am starting a biweekly ladies drills night. Aimed at focusing on sweet passes, good plays and dealing with 6ft 5 dudes sitting on you...amongst other things. I want to see one of the uk ladies in a top ten team at the euros in the next year. Let's help each other out and get on court!
I'd propose starting this in two weeks. What are people's thoughts on days/courts/the general idea?
Alongside this we could run a ladies bench every 2 months somewhere in the uk to try and get some keen noobs down and spread the love/use what we've learned.
It goes without saying that I believe firmly in coed polo. This isn't about starting a women's league or anything like that, it is solely for the purpose of getting more players involved, getting everyone on a learning curve together and getting a woman on a mainstage tournament podium in the next two years.
Come on ladies!!! Let's kill it this year!
Nik
P.S. I am sorry if this idea offends anyone, but if it does or you want to argue it out do it with me via PM please, just so we don't clog the thread with heavy sexism/gender debate.
