Why are pinhead skewers so expensive when these are so cheap?
Cuz that key is easy to get like this one.

Ahh I see...

you can undo those with a pair of piers as fast as a quick release lever

So which are the best ones to get them? The pinhead ones seem to be the only ones out there that are truly secure?
-
• #15
Nope. None of them are. Atomic22 might be better than the rest though. But ouch my wallet etc.

that's annoying - getting tired of carrying a cable around!

Pinhead are pretty secure, they will put off most people.
Those ones you posted on ebay can be made more secure with a bit of work, cut off the knurled part and stick a ball bearing in the socket with some grease (or even superglue, but you will regret that when you get a flat).
I don't know anyone who can remove an Atomic 22 without an angle grinder or the key, bombproof, but bombproof costs! -

FWIW we've used Pinheads for a couple of years, never lost a wheel / saddle.
But then again I do have a magic tool at home that can open any pinhead skewer.
Same goes for Pitlock, except the tool isn't magic, it's something everyone has.
Atomic 22 seems good now, but they can't legislate against some kind of magic tool coming out that opens them up.
Hi, I'm looking for any type of security skewers for a road bike - thanks.
