What a friendly forum really open armed forum for people selling original parts...
So for those who did have some serious questions:
I would prefer to make those handlebars out of a local wood but the charectaristics don't allow this, don't are rigid an weather resistant enough. Teakwood doesn't change it's diametre and if very little. At my bike I never noticed something -
• #64
Do you know the reason why theyre either upset or taking the piss?
AFAIK - The simple answer is that wood bars are unsafe. Wood tends to break suddenly, while metal fatigues and bends (Mostly). Last thing a cyclist wants is their bars to give without warning.
Plus its something that isnt new. Its been tried. It hasnt worked.
But good luck with your sale.

^^You nailed it- it is a forum, not a marketplace.
There is a classified section, but people who sign up, post a few rubbish contributions and then go about trying to sell their wares often receive a bad reaction.
Other issues to consider- if someone uses your bars ('normal' use mind) and they fail, what kind of liability insurance, warranty, legal protection do you have/offer?

look at us being all mature and stuff

-
• #72
For sure somebody buying something out of wood does know that wood can break and if you don't want to live with that just don't buy it, same thing with carbon handlebars!
But going here after me like this, insulting me and calling out to burn me, because Of a product, does NOT belong under a buy/sell thread
-
• #73
No, carbon bars are stress tested and assuming correct installation there is a manufacturer liability if they fail.
I don't think we want to burn you, but your wooden bars might make good kindling for a fire.
-
• #74
I don't think anyone is actually suggesting that you are burnt. I think that's another pun.
Don't be such a weeping willow.
