Nope, unfortunately it won't take ED8spd cassettes. But, re-spacing a 9spd one is reasonable .
Two ways go :
either buy a 9spd miche cassette and 8spd black miche spacers to get the desired 5.00mm
Or buy an 9spd veloce cassette, and get one of your mates to manufacture 6 spacers in the thickness of 3.25mm, one 0.45mm (goes for the smallest cog which has a built-in spacer) and one 1.2mm spacer to drop behind the largest cog (to be able to tighten the lockring sufficiently. the cassette will wobble without the extra support)
Lovely wheelset. Absolutely gorgeus rims with their box profile and silverish finish.
