Wanted: Ladies bike - on a budget

Posted on
  • After a ladies bike - to suit rider 5ft 4 in height.

Preferably a dropped top-tube I guess - don't really know what I'm looking for if I'm being completely truthful. Gears a definite, drops/flats/risers/porteurs/whatever for bars. Would prefer 700c wheels but only for compatibility with my huge mound of innertubes so other wheel sizes considered (likely with small frame size).

Based in the South West - could pick up from London/Herts though.

    What have you got?

  • I'm selling this: Completely restored, 531 tubing, Shimano 105 group set, highly polished, new tyres, bearings cables etc etc.

    PM if interested, thanks

  • I have a small Gitane Faubourg in the classified, maybe that will be something of interest?

650B wheels but tyres are new and easy to get from CRC / SJS. It will also fit 700c wheels if you remove the mudguards.

  • Vince - I did see yours, unfortunately out of my budget, otherwise I'd have had it off you.

Chris - Looks a bit big and racy to be honest - she's after something a bit more laidback.

  • Tricky one when it comes to price really as you can find loads on Gumtree / eBay around the £80 but by the time you clean/degrease/service/regrease and change all the parts that need changing, you will be around the £150 mark for a 'cheap' bike.

To put it in perspective, a Zone 1-3 travelcard costs £141.40 per month.

PM me if you want to discuss!

  • Yeah, I realise budget is always a risk, made that mistake many times.

Managed to get something sorted which should hopefully tide her over so I think all's good for now. Cheers.
