Before the Streisand Effect fully kicks in, Dani felt that some of the posts in this thread were defamatory in nature.
I have looked at the posts that he informed me of, and found only 2 to be inappropriate of the community, though I didn't feel that they were defamatory as they were merely the opinions of individuals and the Defamation Act 2013 clearly offers a defence for opinion.
For the 2 non-defamatory posts that were perhaps in bad taste or confusing, I asked the authors to consider editing or otherwise changing their content. I advised that failing to do so would mean that I would have to remove the posts after 48 hours, but both authors have modified their posts within a few hours.
Dani is upset, as all business owners are when they encounter opinion on the internet that doesn't align with how they with to present their company and brand to the world.
If Dani does find any defamatory posts then of course I will act to remove them, but so far he has only shown me posts that he disagrees with and finds personally distressing. I acknowledge that, but that doesn't make it defamation nor against any other law I am aware of, nor site rules.
I've suggested that he might better spend any money he has earmarked for lawyers on a PR firm.
I'm fairly sure that if he disengaged from the forum, but a witty PR person took over that he could avoid the Streisand Effect, and instead of this escalating constantly and causing more distress to Dani, that a good PR firm could help neutralise it. I've even recommended a good firm to him.
