2,300g is pretty standard for a strong budget 32h MTB wheelset, the popular road Shimano RS501 is about 1900g.
MTB disc rims isn't heavy, quite the contrary due to the lack of braking surface, if you want to go for Mavic, ditch the Open Pro and get the XM 719 Disc instead, very strong, reasonably light (460g) and a decent width that you can get away with 25mm tyres, which will look tiny in the clearance of the Genesis.
