• He done gone fucked his rims.

spokes tension is too high and will crack it.

Look at the first picture, front wheel - assume the bulge in the rim around the nipples is what he's referring to.

Indeed, the Pacenti rims is very thin, they're great high performance rims, but will crack eventually if the spokes tension is too high over Pacenti's recommended tension, the bulge is normal, but the bulge on that bike is quite big.

Had a pair, my rear look like his front, but my front have a lots less bulge due to the spacing and lower tension, the front despite having a worn braking surface still remain true to this day and only be trued once after 4,000km.

But the rear have to be retired after discovering a lots of tiny crack on the spokes hole after 2,500km, that's largely due to the hubs spacing and offset that required a higher spoke tension (130mm with 10 speed hubs).

Late to the party here, but these Pacenti Rims are turd. Rims start to bulge at a low spoke tension and there have been plenty of reports of them cracking. Apparently they are being re-desgned to rectify the fault but I waiting for further reports.

Currently trying to bust them so I can rebuild the wheels with a set of Grand Bois 650b rims that I have sourced.

This bike is currently on holiday with me in Japan, has had a Brooks Cambium put on and is running a double speed drive train with a White Industries dual chainring and two Chris King cogs on the cassette.
