I have had so many ratty bikes! This was my beater in Melbourne, with the biggest tyres I could (barely) fit in there, because tram tracks:
Believe it or not, it didn't rub.
This is the evolution of my UK rat bike. I just wanted a cheap, practical commuter, that would ride well, but nobody would bother stealing.

I'll take an up to date photo of it come time. I'm a bike mechanic by trade, and it rides like a dream, but I've also left it in Ipswich town centre, unlocked for a week, and it was still there when I got back!

Not strictly a rat bike, but built out of a lot of retro 90s MTB parts I found in my bike dungeon. IMHO the best looking minimalist MTB frame ever made and one of the most fun bikes to ride (pavements can be your friend on this little number. More rigid and unforgiving than a kick in the nuts

The bars are quite wide, but I thought it was best to be conservative with my choppping first time round and then see how I felt rather than getting saw happy straight away and then coming to regret it.
The Frog's aesthetic appeal is debatable, sometimes I really like it but in that DS pic it looks rank. That's definitely function > form
