  • I have a 2013 Caad X Sora and it's great. They're only £625 here and here

    £899.00
definitely the best cyclocross bike for under £1000? if it was a 54 I'd be buying immediately

  • Nicest red bike, ever.

  • Minor disaster with my trusty Dolan Multi-X in that I have managed to strip the threads on the BB shell. Not quite sure how this happened, having had the BB and headset serviced by a mechanic only a few weeks ago, but I did get the entire bike for £250 a couple of years ago and it has had a pretty tough life on London's potholes/cross tracks.

So...can anyone recommend a decent CX frame in the £100-200 range, with canti bosses and ideally mudguard/rack mounts?

I'm tempted by the following, but the more options the better:
    Another Dolan Multi-X
    Kenesis Crosslight Five T
Planet X Uncle John (although they don't seem to have stock)

All area bit over what I'd like to spend. Happy to go second hand, but no one seems to be selling their CX bikes at the mo

  • You can always get threadless bottom bracket to prolonged the life of your Dolan.

  • Any thoughts on the new Brother Cycles 'Keppler' CX frameset?

  • yes; not small enough* and a bit pricey for 4130

  • Only £50 more than a crosscheck, but also not a quite as versatile.

  • Amey you know 4130 is normal you inept trout.

Frame look good, price and weight look spot on too.

  • i <3 4130

  • Only £50 more than a crosscheck, but also not a quite as versatile.

    Why so?

  • Dropouts aren't horizontal, for one.

  • What's the intended usage?

  • Not primarily racing by the looks of things.

    Doesn't mean you can't / shouldn't though.

  • ' And so we created Kepler – a bike designed for whatever you can throw at it, whether it be a muddy day of cyclo-cross or a transcontinental bike tour'.

  • Knock yourself out then. I'm not sure it's going to a be a top notch race frame, and it's already set itself back by having cantilever brakes, but as an all rounder that you can tour on, do the odd race etc., it looks like it'll do the job.

  • inept trout.

    I'm dying

Yes, this and cable stops rather than shfter bosses. And with a Surly I guess you can buy a disc version if you like.

Sick fadez as standard though. They should do new colours each year.

  • Unless I'm missing something, this is am absolute steal

  • I really want to like their stuff...but meh

  • Any thoughts on this Focus as an entry level bike?

  • Commuting chainset at 50/34?
