I commuted on a pompino for 2 years. I would occasionally ride it at weekends for a 25/30 mile outing. Whilst sturdy, the pompino, especially with the stock forks and weinemann deep rims felt like a ship's anchor - it was a really heavy bike. I sold it on and last October put together a roller. The roller is lighter, feels quicker and is so comfortable. Rides of 40/50 miles are now no problem. Whatever your choice buy decent wheels, a decent bottom bracket and pedals
