it's worse that you thought.

Levers look a bit low, hard to tell but could bars rotate down levers moved up?
I could do, I have rotated the bars down a bit, but I'm not keen on the idea of unwrapping the tape and then trying to do it up again, my taping skills are unfortunately up there with my photography skills.

Just worry about it after you done some proper ride and fuck up the tape.
-
• #93405
I can't fuck up the tape, it's expensive.

Forgetting about the ugly bars, how does it feel?
-
• #93407
Really good. Exactly what I wanted.
Sturdy, comfortable, still pretty fast, amazing shifting thanks to the fancy cables, very good brakes.
It's a bit of a porker but, unlike the Pompetamine and because of the gears, it still feels like it can really move. I'm a big fan. Needs a bell though.

Sound like you found the idea bike, pink headset make it look like a Rapha Continental bike.
-
• #93409
That's right, I heard Rapha invented the colour pink and that any use of it since can only be attributed to Rapha.

Always go for a ride to set your levers up before you tape. I guess you know that now though. ;-)

I didn't do them myself so I didn't check them properly, I got offered tweaks but I was impatient.
Lesson learned.

And probably sort out the hipster saddle angle too.

~~Those levers look to be in the right location for a classic bend with a longer ramp (deda newton shallow etc). A clear clue is that the tips of the levers are in line with the bottom of the bars. People have been staring at compacts too long.
I don't see why anything should be changed. Just ride it and find out.~~
Edit, thought this http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/af11/solarider/DSC00099_zpse14ee998.jpg was being discussed, oops.

Its by far done, i just had it tuned up and finished at the moment i snapped the picture, i don't know if its gonna be the saddle i end up with, and i know that the saddle angle is off. do you recommend that the levers go up a bit or? still to come is chris king bottom bracket, carbon rims on ck hubs and schwalbe one, the stem is to pay a tribute to the one klein used on their Quantum Pro

Incremental update - new bargain wheels! Damn, they are noticeably heavy - nearly 3kg for wheels, tyres and cassette. But I'm not complaining considering the price.
I have a crankset coming and a chain so I should be able to do a test ride before the weekend. Excited.
Already planning V2 - Bar extensions, some proper aero wheels and drivetrain upgrades. That'll have to wait though.

Quite lovely and much potential for radness. What cranks are coming your way and what wheels are you planning?

The acoustics of the 500-c30 rim is a nice egg in the hat.
-
• #93419
Egg in the hat? That's a new one for me, whats it mean? Sounds like a bad thing...
@ Machine I have some older 90's 105 cranks coming. they'll be used to get me going until I figure out whether I'll do a full on period correct build or go modern. i.e. SRAM drivetrain and toroidal crabon or alloy rims etc.

Egg in the hat ie. Free lunch.

Nice Klein Barn. Was thinking of putting newer hoops and chainset on mine.

^^^ Period correct is always a good thing, but yes SRAM chainrings and some fast carbon (not too deep) rims would definitely suit as well.
As for the egg, I think it depends if it is boiled whether it's a good thing or not ;)

I rotated the bars a little. Looks alright, feels great. I really enjoyed the commute this morning.
