The trap door is where I hid the bicycle from my girlfriend when she was visiting.
I did consider keeping the mudguards, and I am thinking to try grinding them down to a better fitting / more minimalist size. Might give that a go sometime this week.
I presented the bike to her last weekend. Her reaction was more than enough reward for the work I put in :)
