Great day. It always feels like a forum ride... Great to see our friends from the North, especially Lucifer. Thank you co-Marshall's and contributor's for a jolly fine day out.
I really enjoyed your company, mate, and that of your fine retinue! Sorry I didn't get chance to say bye, but to be brutally honest, we were knackered by then. The early start had wiped us out!
Hope toy see everyone soon - once a year ain't enough!

In 2012 I wasn't wearing a single piece of Tweed. Had some vintage checks (but not tweed material) and a vintage hat, but the trousers I was wearing - which matched the rest of the outfit - were actually brand new brown-cotton chinos from Ted Baker.
Lunatic hero of the day.
Didn't know you at first, just thought some odd hoarse chap in a pith helmet was chivvying us from A to B. Then I heard the full story.Brave, foolish, I don't know, but I was bloody glad to meet you. Next time I want one of those amazing cocktails!

Please post the complete recipe sir, it was delicious. I remember cucumbers in black pepper being involved..
What was in the bidon that you were pouring from? -

OK, the key ingredients are:
- Syrup made from water, basil leaves, lemon peel and sugar
- Cucumber slices mixed with cracked black pepper (I used Black Pepper bitters)
- Pimms No 1 cup
- Gin (I used Old Tom gin)
- Lemon juice.
- Angostura Bitters.
- Celery Bitters.
- Bitter Lemon (or Tonic water).
If you like, you can garnish the finished cocktail with a cucumber slice, a basil leaf and some freshly ground black pepper.
I'll post more detail later.

That and the little fella's clasped hands pleading for mercy…
(I was there at the time and can testify that the baby was returned to his parents unharmed. I suspect that he may have a subliminal fear of bearded Northerners for the rest of his life but he was unharmed…)
