Why the fuck does it matter if it's a pedestrian, cyclist or parade of ducklings using the crossing? They are traffic lights, if they go red you should stop, it doesn't matter how fast you approach the lights before pressing the button and waiting.

unless you're on a bike obvs.

But if the cyclist using the crossing is wearing a helmet it is ok to plough through them. Don't you understand? Helmets make them safe and protected from bad drivers.

Article doesn't says anything about running red.

Doesn't say anything about not running one either.

There are no flashing ambers on a toucan crossing.

Amber Lamps?

There are no flashing ambers on a toucan crossing.
This does not matter, allow jeez to argue about imaginary lights.
FFS do you even lfgss? -

Just...amaze.
I guess 'Fire Chief calls for drivers to JUST PUT YOUR PHONE DOWN AND STOP FUCKING RUNNING PEOPLE OVER ALREADY' doesn't quite have the same ring to it.

This is shameful reporting of the recent tragic death at Elephant And Castle:
2nd Paragraph
Victim Abdelkhalak Lahyani, 47, **was wearing a helmet **when he was hit by a lorry at the roundabout in Elephant and Castle but became the fifth cyclist to die on London’s streets this year.
...and if he wasn't wearing one? So what?
http://www.standard.co.uk/news/london/change-deathtrap-roundabout-crash-cyclists-widow-begs-9383396.htmlWhat the fuck is wrong with the press compelling them to blame the victim when talking about people harmed by motorists

Knew I shouldn't have clicked the link to this thread. The reporting from that pool story is especially disgusting. NO FUCKING MENTION OF THE DRIVER THAT HIT A CHILD ON A CROSSING wtfuckittyfuckingfuck???!?!
goes off to dark room

There is no flashing stage. Not that it matters, it's entirely irrelevant.
-
• #5817
You brought it up you plum, the irrelevant part is the fact you're bringing up bikes crossing being a problem at all, someone drove into them, that's what's important not some bullshit theories you can imagine.

The joys of the ignore function....
-
• #5819
The problem is it doesn't matter what you think may or may not have contributed to the collision based on one article and what you don't know about toucan crossings, your pointless musings on the subject are irrelevant.

^ dull train journey? hope b'ham goes well, ta for the tinny last night.
p.s. I shouted at a forumenger for riding helmetless earlier /csb

Going down tomorrow morning. Might have a cheeky beer in a bit, won't wear a helmet while doing it.
-
• #5822
More beer related head injuries are suffered without helmet than with. Fact.
Just sayin'.
-
• #5823
Fact eh? It's all conjecture and bullshit based on your uninformed ramblings. People can run pretty fast too if they want, it makes very little difference how you approach a crossing if you are using it as a crossing, you travel towards it, you press a button and you wait for the lights to change. You could crawl up to it at 1mph or hop towards it at 30mph. Running or riding across a road without checking is the same whether you do it at a crossing or not. The rubbish you are saying about the lights themselves causing a problem is daft, there is no nipping through on amber that would intersect with a green man/bike. The traffic lights go red then after a pause you will get a green man, after an amount of time and when it senses people have crossed the green man goes away, there is another delay then the lights will go amber then green. Nipping through on red/amber will not be affected by who is using the crossing or how fast they can move, the lights will red for a while before people cross at whatever speed, if you still manage to hit someone you are very wrong but the lights are not.

not bothering with the jeez trolling
as were on a rant page.
what really fucks me off is the way press report- "cyclist in collision with...."
(yeah like they rode into the lorry didnt they)
then, this is the worst bit, the facts of the investigation arent reported because they take days and days, so you only ever get the first report, because its then old news,
in between times theres other muppets piping up saying "she would have been so much worse off without a helmet etc etc etc" Really?

Had a parent at a school today asking why we don't get the children to wear helmets when they do cycle training. "Even the police recommend it". Thanks police!
It's not a discussion you ever want to get in to so I distracted him, as I always do in these situations, by kissing him, passionately, on the lips while my co-instructor invited the children to gather round and take selfies.
Because TL:DR.
