SRAM Force 22 Crankset Installation

Posted on
  • What tools are needed to remove and install the new (2014) Sram Force 22 Crankset?

I'm thinking of removing and putting on a compact for a trip to the dolomites.

  • Assuming you already have a GXP bottom bracket, you'll need some grease and a big allen key. If you don't already have a GXP bottom bracket, you'll need a suitable BB tool. It's a 5-minute job

  • Thanks, I already have the GXP Sram Force BB. I have big allen keys and grease. Thanks for that.

  • you dont need compact in the mountains

  • 16mm hex I believe.

  • OK, I swapped the crankset over and it was pretty easy. However, after I tightened down the non drive side crank to pull the crankset together, I noticed that the slightly wavy/wiggly washer thing on the drive side does not sit flush, i.e. there is a gap between the BB shell and the drive side crank of a few mm. The non-drive side is flush with the BB shell. Is it supposed to be like that?
