Direct experience with the canon 40mm STM on a 6D.
It is my standard lens for pretty much everything. I mostly use it for portraits and as a general walk around and has been pretty much permanently attached to the camera for a year.
Its razor sharp right out to the very corners from f/3.5 but has a lot of vignetting at 2.8 which can actually be nice.
Colour and contrast are excellent and there is very little chromatic aberration.
